Strategies for Designing Synchronous Online Courses

Changes to traditional teaching methods are requiring educators to reimagine the classroom of the future. This four-week course will give you the hands-on, practical skills required to design engaging and inclusive live (synchronous) sessions for your learners. Each week, you’ll also have the chance to practice the skills and concepts you learn with your facilitator and peers.

This course will delve into ways that you can turn synchronous sessions into engaging and lively active learning communities. You can expect to gain exposure to a variety of online tools and technologies to communicate with your students in live sessions. In addition, our course evaluates and assesses learner issues that impact the online environment, such as student engagement. By learning the best practices for planning and facilitating live sessions you will feel confident about how to build communities in the synchronous space.

To create a sense of belonging and ensure proper access to materials, equity and inclusion will also be covered as key topics. Our leading experts will provide resources to help you celebrate diversity in the virtual classroom and suggest  ideas for designing empathetic and inclusive lessons.

If you decide to enroll in four courses of our LX Live series, we’ll reduce the cost of the LX Pathways portfolio experience from $750 to $375 so you can build and enhance your online presence immediately.

Whether you’re teaching, designing, or hoping to design in the future, this coursework will give you the tools you need to effectively deliver high quality two-way, synchronous online learning. Successfully completing this professional development badge will signify advanced knowledge and expertise to employers.
